WHAT DOES GEORGIA GOULDS PETITION SAY?

MOUNTAIN BIKING: EQUALITY Georgia Gould, Norba Cross-Country Champs and Luna Chix Team Leader, has posted an online petition asking for equal remuneration for male and female podium finishers. The petition is here: EQUAL PRICE MONEY FOR FEMALE Cyclists

To: Union Cycliste Internationale (U.C.I.)

The undersigned regret that the UCI minimum prize money is still so different for women and men. We are aware that the competition in the men’s field is more intense, so prize money goes to more people. We don’t understand why women receiving prize money are not getting as much as their male counterparts. We propose that the UCI demonstrate leadership and award equal prize money to the top five male and female athletes. Article 3 of UCI Constitution says: The UCI will follow the principles of equality between all members, all athletes, license holders, and officials. This is without discrimination of any kind. We request the UCI to uphold its equality commitment.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
